CEO for One Month 2017 - Soya So's Week 1 Journal

[CEO for One Month 2017] Soya's Journal - Week One

The Way to Work

Shadowing a real CEO Ms Audrey Low

The Adecco Group aims to help youngsters to put education to work. On the first day of my CEO1Month journey, I have already seen how it worked, with Audrey’s guidance. When she analyzed with me some social policies that affect the economy, I told her about my views and she knew that I studied Economics (high school). I was inspired that knowledge is always transferable if we are aware to apply our learning to other occasions. I asked myself, ‘Have I been doing enough of this? If not, how can I improve?’ With this unprecedented program CEO1Month that gives me first-hand experience, I promised myself to learn and grow with the group and inspire others with my CEO journey.

Audrey gave me a book Do Live the Life You’ve Imagined, encouraging me to aim high and take initiative at my own life. Even though I do not have any solid knowledge on Human Resources as a translation student, with an ambitious mind aiming to be a good leader, I am working hard trying to better understand business and management, and I know this month will help me realize my dream.

Preparing CASTRA Project before Official Launch

As a leading HR solutions company, the Adecco Group spares no effort to make ‘better work, better life’ a reality. Therefore, a suitable job is incredibly important for everyone. At this point, I may not want to go into details so as to keep the project a bit secret before we officially launch it, but I would like to express my gratitude to the supportive colleagues for providing concrete suggestions to improve it. I felt teamwork here which pushed me to long for some day when I could give out such constructive comments with enriched experience accumulated with The Adecco Group.

As a university student, it can be difficult to create a new project out of only creativity, so extra hard work is required. Apart from it, willingness to learn and persistence to try and error are crucial when it comes to innovation. Nobody can make sure anything to be successful, but you never succeed if you do not try.

Visiting on-site

Joining the Experience Work Day, I knew that Adecco Hong Kong has different streams of business, including staffing, but I never noticed that the cruise terminal involved a lot of our employees. We do not work in the same office but for the same goal. Since a leader should understand more about the coworkers’ jobs, appreciate and respect them with a warm heart, I am glad to see their good quality that impressed our clients as well.

This is the first week. I’ll enjoy the rest of my journey and get the most out of these lessons. See you!
